Crystal Cabin Gallery is hiring for a Gallery Sales Lead at our Masset Airport location this summer. If you’re positive and energetic, have a flair for sales, can connect easily with people from all walks of life, and are proactive and motivated, we might have the perfect position for you.  

Spend the summer meeting guests from around the world, handling some of the most beautiful art and jewelry by Haida, northwest coast, and local artists, and contributing to a socially-minded small business. 

The term of this contract will take place during the summer of 2024, for up to 30 hours/6 days a week during Haida Gwaii’s busy summer tourist season. Must be available to work early in the mornings starting at 8am, on weekends, holidays, and during the music festival weekend. Shifts coordinate with local flight schedules, which typically start at 8am and commence by 2pm, giving you the afternoon free to enjoy the beauty of Haida Gwaii’s summers.

Terms: Preference is to hire a full-time team member for 30 hours per week. We will provide sales training, product knowledge, and ongoing mentorship for this role. This position offers the right candidate the opportunity for year-after-year employment. Must have reliable transportation to commute to the Masset Airport

Qualifications: 

• Motivated and driven, with proven sales success or experience excelling in customer-facing role 
• At least 5 years of previous work experience required 
• Ability to think quickly on your feet, handle a busy sales environment, and prioritize when there are competing demands 
• Very good memory and talent for storytelling 
• Able to engage anyone in conversation, positive attitude, friendly demeanor, excellent customer service in person and by phone/email
• Responsible, professional, punctual, reliable, respectful & courteous personality 
• Can-do attitude, self-starter, and can troubleshoot independently, but also works well in a team
• Quick learner who can adapt to changing business needs and face challenges head-on
• Strong organization and follow-up skills 
• Strong communication skills and pro-active communication skills with the client & the team
• Interest and knowledge in Haida and Northwest Coast artwork with a passion for taking local artists internationally. 
• A champion of aesthetically beautiful items, art, and design
• Tech savvy or possess a positive mindset to master our point of sale system & card processing technology 
• Reliable transportation to commute to the Masset Airport 

Roles & Responsibilities: 

• Consistently achieves and exceeds monthly store sales goals
• Memorization of key information about each piece, artist, and our brand story  
• Responsible for gallery cleanliness, organization, and merchandising displays 
• Pricing and managing stock levels and supplies and communicating low stocks to stock manager in a timely manner 
• Capturing pertinent customer information in fast-paced environment 
• Providing appropriate follow-up on sales, client requests & custom orders 
• Attention to detail, including taking utmost care in storing, cleaning and displaying art pieces and the jewelry collection
• Maintain security standards to ensure safety and care of merchandise

We are a local art gallery and jewelry store in Tlell, Haida Gwaii. We specialize in highlighting artwork and jewelry by Haida and northwest coast artists. We also sell high quality crystals & minerals. In 2021 we started the Artists Tool Fund to purchase tools for local artists. Owned and operated locally since 1984, now run by the second generation.
