Eugene Davidson Sr. is a Haida artist from Old Masset on Haida Gwaii.
He is well known on the islands for his traditional halibut hooks using local woods like yew wood, and exotic woods also. His halibut hooks are made according to the traditional Haida way.
Eugene created many authentic Haida tools and artifacts, including halibut hooks for the full length Haida film, “Edge of the Knife (Sgaawaay K’uuna),” which was released in 2018.
