In 2002 local mineral collector, lapidary artist, and goldsmith jeweler, Dutes Dutheil’s vision to share Haida Gwaii’s geological story with locals and visitors manifested into the creation of the Tlell Stone Circle.

In the early 1990’s, when Crystal Cabin was still operating out of its former storefront, a smaller wood cabin, Dutes was inspired at this time to create an outdoor mineral display. Due to the size and space involved in such a creation, it was only to be a temporary exhibition. Clearly, Dutes had much bigger plans for his display.

As the business grew into its current space, a large gallery of several hundred square feet, Dutes set out to create a more permanent exhibition, and so the Tlell Stone Circle was born!

The Tlell Stone Circle, which is arranged as an energy circle, features eight local geological specimens, ranging from 62 to 200 million years in age – with some of the fossils dating back to the time of the dinosaurs! Each specimen represents one of eight sacred directions and was collected by Dutes over a 15-year period.

Each piece is welded in a custom-shaped steel encasing and sits on a cement column. The design of the Circle is very interactive and each piece can be moved with the lightest of touch for a 360-degree view. The cement columns sit up to six feet into the earth and are rooted in sand from Tlell’s East Beach. In the middle of the Circle sits a basalt rock, which resembles the shape of the sacred Shiva Lingams of India.

Since its creation, visitors from around the world have been drawn to the vibrational energies of this sacred space.

The Energetic Significance of the Tlell Stone Circle

In 2016, Doctor of Acupuncture and Natural Medicine, Neil Blacklock, contacted Dutes regarding his research on the Earth’s energy vortexes. A vortex is a place in nature where the earth’s energy is more dynamic. The energy can be reflected in a tremendous amount of natural beauty created by the elements of land, light, air, and water.

In his research, Neil considers Haida Gwaii, particularly the Gwaii Haanas Vortex, to be possibly one of the most powerful vortexes in the world. The increased energy of these islands, amplified by the Gwaii Haanas Vortex, provides further reinforcement for the special energy and connection that locals and visitors alike experience in Haida Gwaii.

After connecting with Dutes, Neil studied the Tlell Stone Circle’s coordinates and found that it is connected via a ley line to the Gwaii Haanas Vortex. In his research, Neil considers the Tlell Stone Circle to be a light portal, which further reinforces its sacred location that Dutes intuitively choose years prior. Additionally, when using copper dowsing rods, the movement of these rods often intersect to support the presence of special energy.

Let’s look back at the work required behind the Tlell Stone Circle and its opening ceremony in 1992.

You’re Invited to the Tlell Stone Circle 15-Year Celebration

Haida Gwaii Tlell Stone Circle

With 2017 marking the 15-year anniversary of the Tlell Stone Circle, Dutes and everyone at Crystal Cabin invite you to attend the 15th Anniversary Celebration of the Tlell Stone Circle for a day of geology and spiritual connection during the Sagittarius Strawberry Full Moon.

Date: Saturday, June 10th 2017

Starting 1:30PM

“Haida Gwaii, Islands of Light guest presentation by Dr. Neil Blacklock: How Haida Gwaii resonates with the geometry of light, with special reference to the Gwaii Haanas Vortex, Golden Spruce, and Tlell Stone Circle.

New! Tlell Stone Circle Meditation Announced!

Join us at 11 AM on Saturday June 10 for a short meditation before the Tlell Stone Circle Celebration to connect with the energies of this sacred space.

During this time, Firyal will guide us through a gentle meditation to open ourselves to receive the powerful healing vibrations of the Gwaii Haanas vortex, experienced at the Tlell Stone Circle's light portal.

As we’ll learn, Haida Gwaii connects to the world’s energetic grid via the Gwaii Haanas Vortex. This Vortex of energy acts as a portal that allows us to access a gateway to other dimensions of experience. Through our collective intent and conscious presence, we invite you to come together to breathe life into the subtle energies that welcome and connect us in this special place.

This by-donation meditation will take place outside, weather permitting, or indoors. Please wear comfortable clothing, bring an extra layer for warmth and have something to sit on. All welcome!

Location: Crystal Cabin, 778A Richardson Road, Tlell, British Columbia, V0T 1Y0
