We are hiring for a Sales & Store Manager position at the established art gallery & jewelry store, Crystal Cabin Gallery, located in Haida Gwaii
Spend the summer meeting guests from around the world, handling some of the most beautiful art & jewelry by Haida & northwest coast artists, making amazing sales & contributing to a socially-minded small business.
This is a full-time job of 40 hours/5 days a week, all year round. Must be available to work Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, as these are busy sales days. Must be committed and available to work the full busy summer tourist season on Haida Gwaii from mid-May to end of September.
Pay rate: We offer a living wage starting from $26.25/hour. For full-time employees we offer a Health Spending Account.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years sales experience in jewelry, art, luxury goods or a similar role
- Motivated & driven, with proven sales success
- Ability to think quickly on your feet, handle a busy sales environment & prioritise sales when there are competing demands
- Very good memory & talent for storytelling
- Able to engage anyone in conversation, positive attitude, friendly demeanour, excellent customer service in person or by phone/email
- Responsible, professional, punctual & reliable personality
- Can-do attitude, self-starter & can troubleshoot independently, but also works well in a team
- Quick learner who can adapt to changing business needs & face new challenges head on
- Strong organization and follow-up skills
- Interest & knowledge in Haida & northwest coast artwork and passion to support & elevate the work of women and emerging artists
- Tech savvy & comfortable with learning new software, technologies & devices
- Class 5 drivers licence and vehicle to commute to our stores in Tlell and Masset (this location open seasonally in the summer)
Roles & responsibilities:
- Lead driver of store sales and overall store success, responsible for improving processes, systems organization, marketing, customer service, inventory management, retail team management, driving excellency, with reporting to Owner
- Consistently achieve or exceed monthly and seasonal individual and store sales goals
- Memorization of key information about each piece, artist & our brand story
- Responsible for gallery cleanliness, organization, merchandising & gallery grounds
- Pricing & managing stock levels & supplies & placing orders in a timely manner
- Capture meaningful customer data for the purpose of connecting with the client, building relationships, and personalizing future client communications & needs
- Providing appropriate and pro-active follow-up on all sales or client requests
- Attention to detail, including taking utmost care in storing, cleaning & displaying art pieces & the jewelry collection according to museum standards
- Follow and implement design, aesthetic and brand standards, which also may include painting, preparing walls for art, etc.
- Fulfilling & packaging online orders through website, handling returns, generating shipping quotes and researching shipping methods, insurance and museum standards for packaging and protecting fine art and jewelry
- Responding to inquiries on social media & email & ability to conduct sales through written medium & phone calls
- Able to post business content on Instagram & Facebook, take photos & videos of products as needed, use Canva for basic graphic design projects, write & research blogs, newsletters & product listings
- Research products & services for the business as needed
- Maintain security standards within the store to ensure safety of merchandise
- Ordering stock and supplies, keeping updated inventory for in-store and online, with goal of constantly improving systems and integrations
- Organize working schedules of store staff, provide sales coaching, mentoring & team building
- Driving to drop off packages to nearby post-office & checking for mail
- Being listed as an emergency contact for the store
