Argillite Wasgo Design: The Wasgo is a supernatural creature from Haida oral history, a formidable blend of wolf and killer whale that symbolizes both earth and water. In Haida oral traditions, it is said to inhabit Spirit Lake behind Skidegate.

Argillite is a black stone that is geologically classified as slate. The argillite from Haida Gwaii is found on one mountaintop and is protected by the Haida Nation as a stone exclusively carved by the Haida people.
