Argillite Frog Pendant with Yew Wood, Black Oyster Shell and Abalone inlay eyes

 

The frog is a symbol of good luck and happiness. Frog is known as the communicator and also represents new life.

This argillite pendant is complimented by fine grain yew wood and six inlays of black oyster shell. Two pieces of abalone inlay highlight this frog’s curious eyes.

Chris comes from the Russ family, who are well-known argillite carvers of the Haida Nation and have been featured in many museums and galleries, as well documented in native art book collections. Chris’ father was the late Reynold Russ, Hereditary Chief of Old Massett.
